Frequently Asked Questions
We will continually update our PAIL FAQ section with the most up to date information.
The PAIL Collection
PAIL stands for Pregnancy and Infant Loss. Each October, families around the world honor and remember babies gone too soon. The PAIL Collection was created as our way of walking alongside these families and helping keep their babies' names seen, spoken, and remembered.
The PAIL Collection is an annual remembrance and awareness campaign created by Alexandra & Wells. Each year, families are invited to submit their baby's name to be included on our annual name lists, which are printed on the back of select pieces from the collection.
Over the years, these lists have become one of the most meaningful parts of who we are. Families look forward to being a part of this with us year after year.
I lost my son in 2019 when he was just two days old. This heart and mission of this company is rooted in my need as a mother to say and share his name. This collection does that -- not just for me, but for this entire community.
The PAIL Collection exists to make space for the names that so many families carry but the world may not always see. Together we recognize them, remember them, and remind families that their babies are forever loved.
The names are the heart of The PAIL Collection.
Each name represents a life that deserves to be remembered. Printing these names together creates a sense of togetherness within a community that so often feels isolated and alone. Each name printed on our lists serves as a visible reminder that no family is alone in their grief, love, or remembrance.
The first PAIL Collection began in 2021 with around 300 names. I started Alexandra & Wells with the sole intention to share my son's name with our family and friends. This collection just became a natural extension of that, because each and every life deserves to be remembered.
Since then, it has grown into an annual collection that has honored more than 13,000 names from families around the world. What began as a small remembrance project has become the most important collection we create each year.
The PAIL Collection is deeply personal to our family because our son is a part of this list, too. His name is right alongside the names of every baby we honor.
This collection is one I return to every year with my whole heart. As it continues to grow, I learn how to grow with it. I will never take lightly what an honor it is to hold, organize, and remember each name that is sent to us.
The PAIL Collection is for families who have experienced pregnancy loss, infant loss, stillbirth, miscarriage, TFMR, neonatal loss, or the loss of a baby at any stage.
It is also for loved ones, family and friends who want to honor and support a family walking through this grief, and is a beautiful want to stand beside these families and ensure them that their baby will always be remembered.
No. Many people support The PAIL Collection because they love someone who has experienced pregnancy or infant loss, and this becomes a beautiful way to stand with them in support and remembrance.
Whether you are honoring your own baby, supporting a friend, remembering a family member, or choosing to stand with and support this community, you are welcome here.
For many families (mine included), one of the deepest fears after loss is that their baby will be forgotten.
Remembrance gives families to say, "My baby was here. Their life mattered. Their name is still loved. Their name deserves to be shared."
The PAIL Collection exists to help carry that remembrance forward.
Name Submissions
Name submissions for The 2026 PAIL Collection open on July 8.
No. Joining the reminder list does not hold a submission spot. Submissions are limited and must be entered through the official form once it opens.
When name submissions open on July 8, we will share the official submission form by email, by text if subscribed, on our website, and on social media. The form is the only way to submit a name for The 2026 PAIL Collection.
Yes, multiple names may be submitted through the official form. Submitting names together is the only guaranteed way that names will be grouped together on our lists, as the full lists are organized alphabetically by first name.
Yes. Once a name is submitted through the official form while submissions are open, it is automatically added to our 2026 list and will be included in this year's collection.
Once the form closes, we will not be able to accept any additional names for this year.
After you submit a name through the official form, a confirmation message will appear immediately. You will also receive a confirmation email at the email address you provided.
Please keep that email for your records. If you do not see it, check your spam or promotions folder before attempting to submit a name again.
Yes. Please submit your baby's name exactly as you would like it to appear on the final list. This may be a first name only, first and last name, or first, middle and last name.
Yes. We encourage any family to participate who wants to be a part of our campaign. If you did not have the chance to name your baby, we often see families use nicknames or "Baby" followed by their last name (Ex: Baby Hoover).
No. We create new lists every year, only with the submissions that we receive from that particular year's form. We invite you to submit your baby's name with us again this year.
Yes. We welcome back families with open arms every year.
Many families have submitted their baby's name to our remembrance lists each year since this collection began in 2021. A name bust be submitted again through the 2026 form to be included in this year's artwork.
Each submitted name must be carefully reviewed, organized and prepared for the final artwork.
Closing the form at a specific time allows us to begin that process immediately and remain on schedule for the collection preorder, production, and fulfillment timelines.
2026 name submissions will close July 10 at 11pm CT. Every name received through the official form before the deadline will be included.
A purchase is not required at the time of name submission.
Each name submitted becomes part of the final artwork for The 2026 PAIL Collection, therefore we kindly ask that families submit names with care and recognize that spaces are very limited.
The preorder window will open after name submissions close and this year's artwork is finalized. Name submission and purchasing from the collection are two separate steps.
No. Names must be submitted through the official name submission form.
We are unable to accept name submissions through email, DM, social media comments or customer service messages.
Unfortunately, names cannot be added after the submission window has closed.
Once submissions end, the records move directly into artwork preparation. Closing the form at a precise deadline allows us to finalize the remembrance lists, complete the designs and prepare the collection for preorder.
No new names can be accepted after July 10 at 11pm CT.
Name Submission Confirmation
After you complete the official submission form, a confirmation message will appear on the screen. You will receive a confirmation email letting you know that your submission was received.
Once the submission window closes, we will begin reviewing, organizing and preparing all of the submitted names for the final 2026 PAIL Collection artwork.
The complete alphabetized remembrance list is scheduled to be shared on July 11 so families can review their submissions before the final artwork is completed.
A confirmation message will appear immediately after the form is successfully completed.
You should also receive a confirmation email at the email address entered on the form. Please keep that email for your records.
Before leaving the form, make sure you have reached the final confirmation screen that lists both your name and your submission. If you do not reach this, we did not receive your submission.
First, check your spam and promotions folders. Confirmation emails can sometimes be filtered automatically.
If you are submitting right when our form opens, please allow 30-60 minutes to receive a confirmation email. We process a large influx of submissions at one time right at form opening, and our system sometimes takes time to catch up.
If you reach the final confirmation screen but cannot locate the email, please do not immediately submit the form again.
Check if your email address is correct on your confirmation screen. Then email hello@alexandraandwells.com with your name, your baby's name and the email address used on the form so we can check whether a submission record was received.
Remembrance List Design
The names on our remembrance lists are organized by the first letter of the first name submitted.
We do not organize by last name.
For example, Wells would be listed under the letter W.
Yes. If multiple names are submitted through the same form, they will be grouped together based on the first letter of the first name entered.
For example, if "Elliot James Carter" and "Mae Rose Carter" are submitted on the same form, they will appear together as:
Elliot James + Mae Rose Carter
The submission would be placed under the letter E because Elliot was the first name entered.
Through years of careful development, testing and refinement.
As the collection has grown, the names have been divided into multiple alphabetical remembrance lists. Our garments and artwork are designed specifically to accommodate these lists while keeping every name as clear and legible as possible.
Each list typically contains approximately 1,300 to 1,500 names, although the dinal ranges depend on the total number of names submitted each year.
The remembrance lists are divided into alphabetical groupings based on the first letter of the first name submitted.
We will not know the exact letter ranges until the submission form closes on July 10 and we know exactly how many names have been received.
The final letter ranges will be announced on July 14 and clearly identified when the final list proofs are shared.
We cannot guarantee that two seperately submitted names will appear on the same remembrance list.
The names are placed according to the final alphabetical groupings created after submissions close. Your submission will be listed accordingly based on the first letter of the first name submitted.
Names submitted together through the same form will remain grouped together. Separately submitted names cannot be manually moved or grouped by request.
No. Individual name placement cannot be requested.
After submissions close, names are carefully organized across the final artwork based on the needs of each list.
Placement, order, spacing and grouping are determined during the artwork process so that every submitted name can be included clearly and respectfully.
No. Please submit only the name you would like included in the artwork.
Do not include birth dates, loss dates, emojis, hearts, memorial phrases or additional messages. If these are included in your submission, they will be omitted from the final artwork.
Apostrophes, hyphens and accent marks that are part of your baby's name may be included and should be entered exactly as they intend to appear.
Yes. Every baby is worthy of being remembered.
You may submit the name or wording your family uses when honoring your baby, such as "Baby" followed by your family name. You may also choose to honor your baby with a nickname.
Please enter the wording exactly as you would like it to appear within the artwork.
Please review the spelling carefully before completing the form. We have check points in place to allow you to double check your submission before completion.
If you notice an error after submitting, contact us or reply directly to your confirmation email and include your name, the email address used on the form, and the correct spelling.
We have a designated window for families to make any required edits, but changes will no longer be possible outside of this window.
If you believe you submitted an exact duplicate, you do not need to contact us. Our team reviews all submission records thoroughly and removes any duplicate submissions.
If you make a secondary submission that is different from your original submission, you will need to contact us to specify which submission you are wanting to keep. If we do not hear from you, we will keep the most recent submission on record.
Our full alphabetized remembrance list will be shared on our website and social media on July 11 for your review. You will receive a link to this list to the email entered in your submission form.
Our linesheet and final artwork proofs will be shared on our website and social media on July 14 for your review. You will receive a link to these proofs to the email entered in your submission form.
Our window for edits will be from July 11 to July 13 at 7pm CT. After this time, we cannot accept any changes. We also cannot add any new names after our form closes on July 10.
Our window for edits will be from July 11 to July 13 at 7pm CT. After this time, we cannot accept any changes.
Edits will only be accepted via email. Any edits sent through DM or comment on social media cannot be guaranteed.
Email hello@alexandraandwells.com with your name, the email address that was used for your submission, and the requested edit.
We strongly request that no changes to the format or length of submissions is made during or edit window, as we are already preparing names for the final artwork.
These changes are not guaranteed. We can only guarantee edits to spelling or punctuation errors that do not alter the length of your original submission.
All edits sent through our support email (hello@alexandraandwells.com) will be answered and submitted promptly. Please keep in mind, we receive a large influx of emails during this time and strive to answer you as soon as possible. Please refrain from sending multiple emails.
We will update the remembrance list on our website with all edits as they are received, and all edits will be finalized in the sharing of the final artwork proofs on July 14.
We work incredibly hard to keep our systems as organized as possible as to not misplace or leave out any names that we receive.
If you submitted a name through our form and do not see your baby's name, please respond to us from your confirmation email. We will require a copy of your confirmation email to confirm your submission.
If you do not have your confirmation email and we cannot locate record of your submission, we unfortunately will not be able to add your baby's name to this year's list.
